Pacific Life Holiday Bowl: #15 Oregon 42 - #13 OK State 31

current song: Broken Wings by Mr. Mister on KSSK 92.3 FM

single released in 1985. UK #1 and Christmas #1 23 cycles ago... Merry Christmas Everyone by Shakin' Stevens.

after the beach I only managed to watch the 4th quarter w/ OK state ahead 31-28. huh? Oregon trailing? this can't be. quick change of clothes... Oregon ahead 35-31. whew... that was fast. Oregon drive... Ducks on the 1 yard line... touchdown! instant replay... no touchdown. 4th and 1... OK state defensive stop. damn. Oregon defensive stop of their own. whew. Oregon drive... #9 Blount basically powered his way into the end zone. awesome run. Oregon wins 42-31. Oregon will remain ranked in the final polls... football will earn valuable points toward the Director's Cup.

since when did another big 12 team other than OK or TX run a pass oriented offense? when did Oregon, from the pass happy Pac-10, utilize the running game? according to the game stats Oregon rushed for more yardage (309 to 119)... and OK state passed for more yardage (350 to 258). huh? it's like the teams switched leagues.

so far the Pac-10's 3 for 3 in bowl games. I wonder how #24 Oregon State will do tomorrow. so close to making it to the Rose Bowl. hopefully there will be no let down and will make it 4 for 4 for the conference.

Pac-O extremely cold today. shallows relatively free of people. laughed at and to myself swimming in less than knee high water depth. thought of myself as a lean humpback swimming along the west coast on its way to Alaska. last solar day tomorrow to go to get my aquatic on before the new cycle.

Humpback Whale Hunting

current song: One More Try by George Michael on KSSK 92.3 FM

single released in 1988. UK #1 and Christmas #1 20 cycles ago... Mistletoe and Wine by Cliff Richard.

went to Halona Blowhole this afternoon to hopefully see humpbacks. Pac-O actin' up today... water rough. tourists go (Lady) GaGa over blowhole... ooohin' and aaahin'. one kid asked his dad: how hot is that? I'm like: huh? then again... innocent question. I assume kid's from a landlocked state... he may have seen geysers at Yellowstone and thought the blowhole performance to be similar. love Pac-O... always in constant motion.

no humpback whale sightings. are they in Oahu waters? how close do they swim from the shore? 3 honu surfacing sightings... though they may have been from 2 honu. I must have projected a friendly vibe this afternoon. tourist 1: have you seen any whales out there? tourist 2: I've seen whales in California... and also on Maui... turtles too... but nuthin' on this island. I pointed her to where I saw the honu surface. tourist 3: do you know what time Sea Life Park closes?

plan to go humpback whale hunting again next month. hopefully then I can title an entry Humpback Whale Sighting.

I've always believed inspiration comes from w/in. that same inner drive resides in me... that spark which makes me want to continue my Spartakiads. w/ my Coke pudge friend Aria and I joked that I'm a mini-muffin top. I wondered if there's a site devoted to muffin tops... sure enough there is one... Muffin Huntin'. as we walked around Magic Island we looked out for the regular walkers... and muffin tops. there are lots of muffin tops in Hawaii spillin' like the Exxon Valdez... overflowin' like the Ganges. she pointed out this buff dude... not quite a muffin top... a buffin top. no sighting of muffin top bikini man who performed his fart opera piece the other lunar night. we did see silver haired man. we wonder what he calls us. we also spotted old man can collector. spoke to this man walking his 3 legged Boxer. he told us that a boulder crushed his leg. the dog looked so happy being out and about. owner looked happy too chillin' w/ his bud. no Cylon triathletes. the beach belonged to the muffin tops this afternoon.

current song: Shadow Of The Day by Linkin Park on Star 101.9 FM

single released in 2007. UK #1 and Christmas #1 1 cycle ago... When You Believe by Leon Jackson.

after the beach rather than finish Christmas shopping (currency's always the best gift anyway... I will win the Mega Millions) I met some friends at E-Lounge to watch the game and to treat myself to some holiday dranks. I honestly expected to see Hawaii leading.. instead Hawaii down 21-7 in the 2nd quarter. what the frell? Notre Dame ball... somehow they scored w/ 1 second left in the half... 28-7. what the frell? in the end Notre Dame 49 - Hawaii 21. what the frell? way too many holiday dranks to even remember the 2nd half.

I don't know or care much for Notre Dame football and so I don't understand the fascination. grew up watching Pac-10 brand football... pass happy NFL-style league that other conferences now copy. what's up w/ the non-lean Notre Dame coach who can't even stand up and support his body weight?

congrats to Hawaii this season.

current song: Panama by Van Halen on KPOI 105.9 FM

single released in 1984. UK #1 and Christmas #1 24 cycles ago... Do They Know It's Christmas? by Band Aid.

scholars wonder how many animals killed by the Romans for entertainment. some estimates number in the millions. when the emperor Titus opened the Coliseum, he planned 100 solar days of games. 9,000 killed during the grand opening. and that's just in Rome.

other cities in provinces throughout the Empire also built amphitheatres. constant supply of animals needed. industries to capture, transport and maintain animals developed. not all animals made it alive to the amphitheatres. games lasted 700 cycles. wow.

animals that survived transport lived in open enclosures. public wanted to see healthy animals in the arena. animals against men, women and children. animals fought each other... lion vs leopard, leopard vs bear, etc. animals killed enemies of the state. dead animals = food. meat given to public.

no evidence of Romans hunting animals to extinction. commentators say we're worse than the Romans. eg... last Barbary lion in wild killed in the 1920s and Europeans killed the last wild bear in the late 1800s.

a friend woke me up from an afternoon nap w/ devastating news... Stanford lost the vball title match. couldn't go back to sleep.

I watched parts of this football game. Arizona upset BYU. whew. it's been a long time since AZ played in a bowl game... and it seems like a long time since a team from the Pac-10 won against a team from the mountain west. whew.

nice ending to the game. on the final play, a pass to Mike Thomas... w/ BYU players letting him catch the ball. he becomes the all time leader in career receptions in the pass happy conference.

current song: Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana on Star 101.9 FM

single released in 1991. UK #1 17 cycles ago... Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me by George Michael & Elton John.

painful shout out: congrats to Penn State. how dare you deny Stanford its 7th and the Pac-10 its 14 national title. it's been an eternity since the Pac-10 won its last vball championship.

Stanford led the 1st set 15-10. I'm cheerin'... I'm breathin'. what the frell happened after the media timeout? I remember Karch Kiraly talkin' about passing efficiency. I actually learned something new this afternoon. 3 points = 3 hitter options... 2 points = 2 hitters... 1 point = 1 hitter... 0 point = ace. then Stanford's passing broke down. Penn State ended the set on a 15-5 run to win that set 25-20. damn you Karch. damn you Penn State.

drama in the 2nd set. scoring problems late in the set. coaches, announcers and statisticians had the score Penn State 21-19. officials changed score to Penn State 20-19. huh? anyway Penn State won that set 26-24. damn you Penn State.

I could not watch the 3rd set. took a quick nap... hoping that when I got up I would see news of a Stanford victory in 5 sets. instead Penn State swept Stanford.

3 seasons since the Pac-10 has won a national vball title. the last time this happened the Pac-10 went on to win 5 titles in a row. I have to wait several months before Pac-10 vball starts again. few more weeks before the men's season begins. pass, set, kill... all about power.

thank you Pac-10 for yet another amazing vball season.

NCAA Women's Volleyball: #1 Penn State 3 - #4 Nebraska 2

current song: Beautiful Girls by Sean Kingston on Power 104.3 FM

Penn State = awesome in the 1st 2 sets winning 25-17 and 25-18. I thought: Nebraska?... puh-leeze... it should have been Washington playing in this match. Nebraska couldn't even score 20 points in a set. gimme a break. Penn State fans goin' wild in the stands... holdin' up their signs... "turn on the Fawcett"... "Harmotto is our motto". ha ha ha. I expected a Penn State sweep. but... in the 3rd set Nebraska fought back... snapping Penn State's 111 consecutive set win streak. wow. in the end Penn State won in 5 sets. awesome.

love Fawcett. Fawcett turns me on. ha ha ha. she has feline facial features that make her look like a hot cheetah.

NCAA Women's Volleyball: #2 Stanford 3 - #3 Texas 2

current song: Do You Hear What I Hear? by Vanessa Williams on KSSK 92.3 FM

when I turned on the TV I expected to see the start of the 2nd semifinal match w/ news of Stanford sweeping Texas. instead 1st semifinal match tied 2 sets... 5th set tied at 9-9. frell. Stanford up 10-9... solo block by blond hottie Alix Klineman put Stanford ahead 11-9. ok ok ok... 2 point separation... Stanford only had to side out the rest of the match for the win. I don't think I breathed until the Stanford victory. I became reptilian.

Stanford will play Penn State in the finals this Saturday, 20:00 EST. Stanford defeated yet another conference champion. hopefully they will defeat the big ten champions and win its 7th national championship. if it does, then Stanford will have won 1/4... and the Pac-10 will have won 1/2 of all the vball titles. also, w/ Stanford's win over Texas, the Pac-10 avoided a sweep in matches between Pac-10 and big 12 schools during this tournament. whew.

got to see the Stanford players dancin' in the locker prior to the match. ebony goddess Foluke Akinradewo got some moves. Stanford lost the 1st 2 sets... came back to win the next 3. 1st team to ever do that in the national semifinals. w/ hottie libero Gabi Ailes playing in her home state... along w/ Nebraska's loss to Penn State... hopefully the crowd will cheer for Stanford.

Hawaii State Capitol Building

single released in 1979. UK #1 and Christmas #1 29 cycles ago... Another Brick In The Wall by Pink Floyd.

I walked to work this morning and friend Gail nice enough to give me a ride back to my establishment in the evening. she works at the glorious state capitol. pic from wikipedia.org. we talked about some of its symbolism. 2 legislative chambers = volcanoes... building columns = palm trees... pool of water around building = Pacific Ocean. from what I know about most state capitol buildings, they're modeled after the White House. Hawaii's capitol building, however, one of few which doesn't have a dome. standing in the center, one can look up and see blue sky. awesome.

Animal Planet - Whale Wars

current song: Scar Tissue by Red Hot Chili Peppers on Star 101.9 FM

single released in 1999. UK #1 9 cycles ago... The Millenium Prayer by Cliff Richard.

Fukuyoshi Maru spy ship in sight. Sea Shepherd hides among icebergs to escape spy ship radar detection.

population estimate of Minke Whales = 650,000. Minkes curious creatures... swim close to ships. Japanese can easily capture them for their research purposes. clips of Minkes harpooned... splashing around bleeding to death. some dragged along vessels either dying or already dead... others hauled to be researched and processed.

new crew = new life, new energy. captain Paul Watson wants an all female crew to board one of the whaling vessels. he's like: only men are on those ships... they wouldn't know how to react... I won't go on that boat cuz then I won't get off. whatever. Potts = expert in piracy. he's like: I don't agree w/ this plan. he asked one of the ladies: what would you do if you they punch you in the face? she's like: they would never do that. whatever. no one thought that when Potts boarded the whaling ship the Japanese would attempt to throw him off into the icy Antarctic Ocean.

whaling vessel spotted. lady pirate activists get ready for action. 2 inflatable boats to be launched in attack... the Delta will have all the women who will board the vessel... the Sea Rider will film all the action to release to the media.

they take a long time to launch inflatables. I don't understand why the new crew didn't go through intensive training at port... even for 1 solar day... so that when they have to spring into action everything runs smoothly. they looked like idiots. for instance, the inflatables need to call the Sea Shepherd every 10 minutes to check in on their status and also relay their positions. they don't, which piss off those on the Sea Shepherd. no common sense... no southern manners. anyway... mission, attack aborted. inflatables called back to Sea Shepherd.

Sea Shepherd calls the failed mission a success cuz whaling vessel on the run. but were there whales in the area? what if the whaling vessel... w/ its more sophisticated equipment... went full speed to an area where they spotted whales? I still don't understand why the newbies weren't trained at port.

anyway... Sea Shepherd spots the Nisshin Maru... the factory ship. crew wants to 'shut it down'... disable that ship... shut down the whaling industry. whatever. shout out to vegans and animal activists: attack and destroy meat processing plants to destroy that industry. what a waste of whales already processed, ready to be shipped to Japan.

if the Sea Shepherd does damage the Nisshin Maru, the Japanese can easily send out another research vessel next season. I believe in the free market economy. either educate the Japanese about whales so consumption goes down... or find a way to commercially grow whales for profit.

Hinone Mizunone

current song: A Holly Jolly Christmas by Burl Ives on KSSK 92.3 FM

friends and I treated friend Althea to lunch at Hinone Mizunone yesterday. friend Althea very sick and sickly. a friend ordered the shrimp tempura udon and curry combo, which can actually feed 2 people w/ normal sized appetites. friend Althea ate the udon. again she's so sick and sickly that she couldn't even eat it all. what a waste.

I ordered the Karaage chicken combo. combo included miso soup, 3 side dishes, and salad. I decimated my meal. miso soup didn't have any tofu... pieces of onion instead. side dishes included squash, some pink pickled stuff... and some black seaweed stuff. don't know the Japanese names. Karaage kinda dry... no taste and so I had to dip it in wasabi and shoyu.

I wondered about friend Althea's health. she almost flaked out on lunch cuz of her poor health condition. she must have a lot of mucus and phlegm cuz I could hear her breathing. she couldn't even carry any of the gifts we gave her... so weak and frail lookin'. we were supposed to get out our aquatic on after I finished work... but she wanted to rest.

Amazing Race 13 - Nick & Starr

single released in 1994. UK #1 and Christmas #1 14 cycles ago... Stay Another Day by East 17.

Nick & Starr win the Amazing Race. victory began when they 1st left pit stop at 22:56. clue instructs them to fly to final destination city... Portland, Oregon. pic from wikipedia. org. USA! USA! USA!

Dandrew 2nd to leave. Dandrew: we're not gonna be chicken feed to Nick & Starr and Ken & Tina... they're gonna be severely mistaken... it's 1st or nuthin'. you go boys.

Ken & Tina last to leave at 03:30... 4.5 hours behind... but they're all the same flight.

mad dash to taxi cabs. speed race to Tilikum adventure camp... well except for Dandrew who get stuck w/ a slow driver. Ken & Tina 1st to get clue... detour... high & dry or low & wet. in high & dry teams climb up a 30 foot tree... balance and walk along a 40 foot long log... leap into the air to grab one half of the dangling clue. in low & wet... teams traverse 850 feet of floating logs.

all teams chose high & dry. Nick & Starr and Ken & Tina battle it out. Ken completes his part of the detour. Nick catches up. race between Starr and Tina. Starr completes detour. clue instructs them to take a taxi to the Bridge of the Gods. pic from wikipedia.org. Tina's afraid of heights. Ken's like: hurry honey... they're done. Tina: I gotta fix my helmet... oh my gawd... stop yelling at me... be quiet. mad rush to catch up w/ Nick & Starr. Dandrew's cab driver doesn't know where he's going. basically they're done.

in the cab Starr's like: we arrive at the detours the same time w/ Ken & Tina... but we always beat them. Nick: don't jinx us. whoops... too late. in taxi cab race their driver misses the exit. Ken & Tina arrive 1st. clue instructs them to take a zipline (2000 feet long) to the island below.

on the island a memory/concentration challenge. huge game board w/ 10 game pieces... each piece represents each leg of the race... remove each piece 1 at a time in numerical order. pic reveals a symbol... route info, roadblock, detour, or pit stop. in the field, 150 clue boxes w/ pics. match pic w/ symbol... if correct green light gives team ok to move on to next number. example... #4 = pit stop = pic of sheep seen on hill at New Zealand pit stop. whew.

Nick & Starr finish 1st. clue instructs them to go to the Portland Building... look across the street and search for a green dinosaur, which was located in the Standard Building, where they will find their next clue. Nick & Starr luck out... find dinosaur right away. clue instructs them to go to the Alder Street cart pod... search for the cart selling food from their last pit stop (Russia)... get clue from the vendor. clue instructs teams to find the place where 'the magic is in the hole'... the Voodoo Doughnut. Starr: good thing that (chubby) guys loves doughnuts. a lot of running around. Starr's like: slow down Nick. I too find myself breathing hard. clue instructs teams to final pit stop... Pittock Mansion. pic from wikipedia.org.

race comes down to who can get a cab 1st. Nick & Starr cross finish line... win the race. lots of crying and huggin'. Starr: Nick's my best friend. Nick: I'm so proud of my sister. awww!

Ken & Tina 2nd. more hugs and cryin'. Phil: did you reconnect? Ken pulls out their wedding rings. Ken: we haven't worn our rings in a long time... we're gonna do things right this time... gimme a kiss Tina. awww!

Dandrew finally arrive. no crying... macho hug. Dandrew: our goal was not to get eliminated... and we finished the course. cheers from crowd. no sight of hot mamma Tona and Dallas. 12 hour turn around too soon for them to get passports to come back home. now I have to wait a few more months to travel again.

Airial Salvo had like a million kills in a row to tie the 4th set at 24. but what the frell happened? down 24-25, nebraska won on a brain fart UW play. serve going out... but UW player touched ball... lost the set.

Stanford = conference champion killer. 1st round sweep of Albany from america east conference... 2nd round sweep of Long Beach from the big west... 3rd round sweep of Florida from the football centric sec. last night I wondered why the sec... w/ all the $ it earns in football... doesn't invest more in its other sports to win actual national titles rather than mythical championships. several players in today's match from sec country... Jamie Houston, blond cutie Erin Waller, Janet Okogbaa, and ebony hottie Foluke Akinradewo.

anyway will Stanford sweep WAC champion Hawaii? I'm torn like cutie Cobey Shoji. who to root for? she's like: my heart will always be in Hawaii... but I'm gonna be a professional and wish my team well. me? I decided to pig out and watch an awesome match.

awesome match never materialized. conference champion killer Stanford swept Hawaii. Hawaii still has an overall winning record against Stanford... but I think has only won 1 match in its last 10 matches against the Cardinal. what the frell happened in the 2nd set? 25-9? damn. most of the match a blur. in the other semifinal #2 seed Stanford swept #15 seed Florida from the football centric sec. no sec teams remain in the elite 8. w/ all the $ the sec earns from football its schools should invest in other sports to win actual national titles rather than mythical championships. otherwise kick ass Florida vball athletes like ebony goddess Foluke Akinradewo will continue to head west to the play in the Pac. Cal's match against perfect Penn State will be televised on ESPNU 11:00 EST.

at the Austin regional... disastrous solar day for the Pac-10. 2 matches between Pac-10 and big 12 schools. cinda-frellin-rella Iowa State upset #11 seed Oregon in 5 sets. Oregon won the 1st 2 sets... couldn't close out a 3rd for the win. shocked... disgusted.

#14 seed UCLA lost to #3 seed Texas in 4 sets. Texas fan announcers seemed happy when my honey Nellie Spicer got injured in the 1st set. UCLA lost its quarterback... its emotional leader... lost 1st set 25-11. how dare Texas play dirty to win. UCLA won the 2nd set... Texas somehow managed to win the next 2 sets and the match. disgusting. go Iowa State!

I expected an all Pac-10 regional final between Oregon and UCLA. instead the big 12 will have at least one of its teams represent that conference in the final four. disgusting. blessing in disguise... Animal Planet - Whale Wars

current song: Here I Am by UB40 on Island 98.5 FM

single released in 1990. UK #1 18 cycles ago... Ice Ice Baby by Vanilla Ice. UK Christmas #1... Saviour's Day by Cliff Richard.

Sea Shepherd frelled. she's being followed by the Fukuyoshi Maru spy ship... reporting her coordinates to the whaling fleet. whaling fleet can avoid Sea Shepherd and conduct research elsewhere. Sea Shepherd hydraulic crane damaged... not able to launch attack inflatables. Sea Shepherd also has only 1 of her 2 engines working... not able to catch up w/ whaling fleet that successfully avoids her.

Sea Shepherd has to go back to Melbourne for repairs, to refuel and resupply. Sea Shepherd: when we're not out there... the whales will be unprotected. whatever Sea Shepherd. just go back to Melbourne. from what I've seen you haven't protected the whales anyway. too bad Animal Planet didn't have a crew on the whaling ships to simultaneously film the success of the research conducted by the Japanese.

Peter Brown asks the crew not to party even though heading back to port. the crew respects him soooo much that they decide to drank and party. hangovers the next solar day. trust fund kid Kim McCoy: I just found out about the drinking party. of course you did Kim... no one wanted to invite you... you'd kill the fun.

captain orders no alcohol will be allowed. "if you'd rather drank then you're here for the wrong reasons... if anybody doesn't like the way the ship is run... don't come back". so... who stays? who goes?

communications officer Wilfred Verkleij: is Peter Brown coming back?... he is?... ok, I'm not. medical doctor also decides to leave. Kim McCoy will leave the ship... but will continue to work at headquarters. whew. don't have to see her again.

Sea Shepherd gets heros welcome. polizei meet w/ Potts... no charges filed. Potts becomes a radio personality. his message: it's ok to be a pirate.

ship engineer assess damages. he's like: to fix everything's gonna be astronomically expensive. Red Hot Chili Peppers donate massive amounts of currency. off to save the whales. new crew assimilated and trained. Sea Shepherd gets an anonymous tip to location of whaling fleet. instead she meets up w/ the spy ship.

reaction to anonymous call... what if it's from an English fluent person employed by the Japanese to lure the Sea Shepherd into meeting up w/ the spy ship? activists duped.

I also thought about shark nets. I know Australians love their beaches... very aquatic lifestyle. do they protest shark netting? sharks and other marine life... turtles and dolphins... killed when trapped in these nets. what a waste. at least the Japanese, complying w/ international law, utilize every part of the whale. 1 whale = $250,000 to $1 million. whale caught, research conducted, packaged at sea, shipped to Japan.

Japan has to figure out how to commercially grow whales for profit. fish farms... alligator farms. why not whale farms? hmmm... how did I become this way? do I loathe activists that much to think in the opposite direction?

pleased w/ the start of this month. the 2 cardio blitzkriegen helped maintain a single digit Coke lead. very pleased. I have to step up the offensive before the holidays to ensure a cardio victory by the end of this cycle.

chillaxed w/ friend Aria. noticed the sun set more towards the east. she freaked out when she saw something jump out of the water and so we went walking.

Walking
Sportline pedometer - 6.46 miles
45+ minutes. 2.39 miles = 18.82 minutes per mile. 1 can Coke reward.

Triumph of the Will
  • 1.5 miles swimming - 1.0 mile non-stop
  • 15 lbs weight gain - -1 = 16
  • 150 miles running - 43.91 = 106.09
  • 500 miles walking - 244.19 = 255.81
  • 1,500 abdominals - 507 = 993
6.46 miles. 998.79 miles to reach the Babe Estate in San Francisco, by 07.11.09.

less than 1,000 miles to go. I have to walk, swim, run, bike... whatever form of exercise... approximately 4.75 miles each remaining solar day to realize this challenge. hmmm... I've traveled almost 1,400 miles via exercise. of course I'd like to complete the San Francisco challenge earlier. then I can decide on the next metropolis.

Amazing Race 13 - Moscow, Russia

Toni & Dallas 1st team to leave pit stop. no time given. how far apart are the teams? clue instructs teams to take a taxi to a retired nuke sub... search for the sonar room... find the actor who appeared in Hunt For Red October... receive the next clue. Dandrew's like: Sean Connery?

when Dandrew finally arrive at the submarine... all other teams on their way to the Fallen Monument Park. teams search the grounds for the next clue... the roadblock. one team member had to count the number of Lenin (6) and Stalin (2) statues in the park... go to a bookstore... say the number 62 to a worker. if correct worker will give team member a book by Mikhail Bulgakov... flip to page 62 and find the address of the next clue, the author's apartment complex... meet up w/ the other team member already waiting there. if wrong, team member has to wait 10 minutes before the next number guess.

Nick completes roadblock w/ ease. he and Starr steal Ken & Tina's cab driver, who has a GPS system. bad mamma jamma Toni's like: I paid a lot of money for his education... but I don't think he knows the difference between Lenin and Stalin. oh no! you sent out a bad vibe. Dallas counts 3 Stalins. he's frelled. Tina completes the roadblock and tells Dallas that 62's the right number. she's like: you owe me!

detour = 2 forms of transportation in Moscow... ride the rails or ride the lines. in ride the rails, from the central station go to another station... pick up a snack at a marked stand. snack wrapper directs them to another station. there find the statue of the dude who created the Cyrillic alphabet and give the snack to some lady. lady then gives clue to final destination. Phil's like: this is confusing... everything's in Cyrillic... but trains frequent... teams can speed ahead. boo. hiss.

Nick & Starr kick ass. final clue instructs them to Vdnkh park... the pit stop. pic from wikipedia.org. they win a trip to Anguilla.

other teams decide to do ride the lines. in this detour teams travel by trolley. at one station they need to meet a key maker who will give them a key. they need to go to another station to open up a locker. locker has clue to pit stop.

Dandrew completed their speed bump w/ ease... well based on the editing. they had to perform a dance routine. white boys got rhythm. they place 2nd. Ken & Tina 3rd.

Dallas frelled up. when he met hot mamma Toni he left his fanny pack that contained all their currency and passports in the cab. totally frelled. they had to beg for currency to pay for cab fare and trolley tickets. Dallas: I let my mamma down. Toni: you never let me down. aww! Dallas: everything I am is cuz of my mamma. aww! Toni: this has been the best experience in my life. awww!

2 of my initial 3 teams made the finals. Nick & Starr basically came in 1st the entire race. but only the final pit stop matters. it would be funny if Dandrew won considering how they did overall.

NCAA Women's Volleyball - 2nd Round

current song: Immigrant Song by Led Zeppelin on KPOI 105.9 FM

vball the entire solar day. #5 seed Washington 1st Pac-10 team to win its match. UW swept Santa Clara. UW will host #12 seed Utah. digging machine Tamari Miyashiro had 14 digs in the victory. love her.

#11 seed Oregon beat North Carolina in 4 sets. Oregon will next play Iowa State, which upset #6 seed Minnesota. I think Minnesota finished 2nd in the big ten. big ten has 4 conference teams advancing to the regionals. I think after the regional semifinals only Penn State will be the only team left representing that conference.

#2 seed Stanford swept Long Beach. Stanford will face #15 seed Florida. I watched parts of the Florida-Colorado State match online. I honestly thought Colorado would win... they actually led until the end of the 1st set. not impressed by Florida... a lot of dink or tip shots... not very explosive.

#7 seed Hawaii swept USC... the only Pac-10's loss so far in the NCAAs. I also watched this match online. I've seen several of Hawaii's matches this season. I honestly thought USC would win. either Trojans overrated... or Hawaii actually is for real. Hawaii will next face #10 seed Purdue. I know Hawaii beat Minnesota earlier this season. I assume from its seeding Purdue placed 4th in the big ten. Hawaii may actually win that match. forgive me Wahine for not believing. go Bows!

#14 seed UCLA swept Duke. UCLA remains perfect all time against teams from the acc. UCLA's next match will be at #3 seed Texas. my honey Nellie Spicer will lead UCLA to victory. as I've written before... middle of the Pac teams can beat the best of the big 12. hopefully the Austin regional final will be between UCLA and Pac-10 foe Oregon... which will guarantee yet another season in which a Pac-10 team has made the national semifinals.

#8 seed Cal beat New Mexico State in 4 sets. Cal will next play #9 seed Illinois... this tournament's 1st match between a Pac-10 and big ten schools. hopefully Cal will win its match and face Penn State... and win at Penn State... in the regional final.

5 Pac-10 teams... half the conference... remain in the hunt for the national title. regional finals start 16:00 EST on Saturday. 8 hours of volleyball. 8 hours of piggin' out.

NCAA Women's Volleyball - 1st Round

current song: Hot N Cold by Katy Perry on Star 101.9 FM

all 6 Pac-10 teams won their 1st round matches. before going to the beach I checked some results online. #11 seed Oregon swept Delaware and #5 seed Washington swept Portland State. Oregon will next play North Carolina... while UW takes on Santa Clara. I remember Santa Clara upset Stanford in the NCAAs a few seasons ago. shout out to Tamari Miyashiro: dig baby dig!... win baby win!

#2 seed Stanford led Albany in the 1st set... and USC lost the 1st set to San Diego. Stanford swept Albany and will play #24 ranked Long Beach State. Stanford owns the series against Long Beach. USC won in 4 sets and will play #7 seed Hawaii. this has to be the toughest regional... lots of ranked teams.

#8 seed California swept Siena... and #14 seed UCLA beat LSU from the football centric SEC.

Hinone Mizunone

current song: Dangerous by Kardinal Offishall on Hot 93.9 FM

my sister treated me to lunch at Hinone Mizunone. I ordered the shrimp tempura udon & curry combo, she ordered the butterfish combo, and we split the sashimi combo (today's special). my order = huge. we actually could have split the udon and the beef curry... but we were hungry.

the other combos came w/ miso soup, potato salad, pickled vegetables, and a bowl of rice. she decimated the 2 bowls of miso and seemed satisfied w/ her butterfish portion. she thinks she's being healthy by not eating the fish skin. what a waste. I could have put the skin and the pickled side dishes into the extra bowl of rice and made my own version of bi bim bop. potato salad had carrot and celery pieces and lots of mayo. the fresh sashimi = ono-licious. huge slices.

Hinone Mizunone also serves bentos. after 13:30 they're sold half price. place opens at 11:00 and serves lunch until 16:00 or 16:30... and around that time dinner menu served.

Animal Planet - Whale Wars

current song: Take A Bow by Rihanna on Da Bomb 102.7 FM

$2.049 per gallon for unleaded gas at Costco.

in this ep Sea Shepherd followed by a Japanese vessel, Fukuyoshi Maru. everything about the ship looks old... except for its sophisticated radar system. Sea Shepherd wants to find out if Japanese military on board. if so, then the Japanese would be violating some international treaty. whatever. as if the activists didn't violate maritime law by boarding the whaling ship. shout out to all those environmentalists against global warming: hey, why don't you start boarding oil tankers?

brief clip explains commercial whaling banned in 1986... except for research purposes. Japanese work around this. Japanese whaling vessels labeled RESEARCH. when filmed killing whales for research, Japanese hold up signs to the camera like 'measuring body proportions'... 'weighing stomach contents'... 'collecting tissue samples'. another clip shows Sea Shepherd ramming itself into the Oriental Bluebird, a refueling vessel. damn.

Sea Shepherd realize that the mysterious Japanese vessel following it = spy ship tracking Sea Shepherd movements. wherever Sea Shepherd goes, Japanese whaling fleet goes somewhere else. so... Sea Shepherd wants to take out and disable the vessel.

what I found interesting... the Sea Shepherd captain didn't give a direct order to take out the Fukuyoshi Maru. he leaves it up to the crew to decide. they're like: nah... that's ok... we don't wanna board the ship to cut its communication lines... we'd be like terrorists... pirates... hooligans. captain's like: we're hooligans anyway. so... crew decides to launch an attack. is the captain saving his ass?

anyway the crane used to launch the inflatable boats doesn't work. Sea Shepherd crew can't even abandon ship if they have to. so... I assume that they'll ram the Sea Shepherd into the Japanese vessel(s).

after watching this 4th ep... I'm getting more turned off by these activists. I'm a believer of the free market system. either figure out how to grow whales commercially... or somehow lessen the demand of whale consumption in Japan so that less whales will be killed for research each season.
