Europe, Where's the Aid to Georgia?

current song: Dangerous by Kardinal Offishall on Hot 93.9 FM

initially when I started this blog, I wanted to make some extra $. I will win the Mega Millions. 2ndly I wanted a way keep track of my exercises because the fitness tracking feature on the 24 Hour Fitness site no longer available. finally I wanted to improve my mental skills. I watch a lot of TV. I thought that by writing about the shows I watch it would test my recollection and also help me become a better writer.

this afternoon, though, I had an interesting conversation w/ friend Sheila. touched briefly on several topics. I know I'm friend Sheila's best friend and I wondered if I should write about some of my views because by her reaction I could sense disgust and disbelief. then I thought: why not?... it's called growth. I decided to create a new label... Admiral Freckles Appreciates Feedback... in case I write more entries about my opinions on various issues. I will win the Mega Millions.

I used to admire Europe... again its nation states had vast empires... basically conquered the world. now the Europeans seem to be all talk and no action. take the situation... hmmm... crisis... in Georgia. a US ship in the Black Sea already delivered aid. what have the Europeans done? to my knowledge, absolutely nuthin'.

friend Sheila told me to look at other news sources and not to rely only on the US media. she recommended The Times, the BBC, The Huffington Post... even Al Jazeera. here's how I did my search on Google. I entered 'Georgia aid' and then each site she recommended. as of 01:30 08.29.08... most articles I found on aid basically 'US aid this' or 'US aid that'. no surprise to me the Europeans didn't do anything.

here's what will happen in the next few solar days. 1st and most likely scenario... Europeans will get together and talk about what to do. and then what will they decide to do? absolutely nuthin'. 2nd possible scenario... the Europeans will do the opposite whatever the US decides to do. the Europeans will do nothing against Russia. why? Europe needs its oil. I also mentioned that I was for oil drilling in the US. totally shocked friend Sheila. perhaps that will be my next Admiral Freckles Appreciates Feedback entry.

I then went on to call the Europeans lazy. here's my thinking. the European state governments take care of its citizens from cradle to grave. why bother to work? I should check recent unemployment rates... but from what I remember, most countries in double digits %age rates. millions of unemployed Europeans living off the government. those who do work, work less than 40 hours a week and have at least 6 weeks vacation time. w/ millions out of work... and w/ millions who work and have a lot of days off, I picture them protesting in their free time.

friend Sheila had a good point. she mentioned that governments should take care of its citizens... exactly what the European governments do. but how can the current cradle to grave benefits system continue to function w/ a declining population and millions who don't work and pay taxes? not an economist here... but it doesn't make sense.

borrowing words from Project Runway 5 contestant Terri: Europe... I don't know if you got balls down there or a va-jay-jay... but whatever you're packin'... work it out.

Project Runway 5 - RuPaul

current song: Lollipop by Lil Wayne on Power 104.3 FM

gentleman Joe, don't start actin' like dem queens. he loathes on Keith: what's up w/ Keith and his swatches n strips?... I dunno what the judges are thinkin'.

designers meet w/ Heidi. silhouette of large woman w/ a viking hat w/ huge horns on screen. she starts to laugh. everyone recognizes it. it's Chris March from season 4 in drag. she's wearing a dress w/ disco ball bras. Terri's like: I luv drag queens... I'm a lookin' forward to this challenge.

the drag queens have some interesting names... Farrah Moans, Hedda Lettuce, Sharon Needles, Annida Greenkard, Acid Betty and Varla Jean Merman. since Keith won the last challenge he picks his muse 1st. he wants to work w/ Sherry Vine. he's like: I luv her legs... hell yeah! gross. Korto loves sugar and chooses Sweetie. laughin' to myself cuz if Sweetie = cookie... then Admiral Freckles = crumb. Terri and Acid Betty, who's 7 feet tall, look like a good match. Acid Betty looks like the most interesting of the drag queens.

Heidi and Chris decide to catch up. Heidi's like: let's eat some German food... mmm... pretzels und bier. so that's how she stays so thin... bier instead of Coke.

Tim gives the designers a portfolio of their muse to get a better feeling of her persona. they each also have 30 minutes to meet w/ each other. I think the $200 budget for this challenge highest so far this season.

Korto's Sweetie loves fire colors. Sweetie = flamin'. after 10 minutes w/ his muse, Joe still doesn't know what to do. he's like: I know... I'm gonna treat this challenge like I'm makin' a Halloween costume for my daughter. Joe shows the planet his white boy dancin' moves while wearing his muse's bra.

(she thinks she's interesting) Blayne goes around the room asking the other ladies and gentleman Joe what their drag queen name would be. of course, Blayne's like: I'm gonna be drag-licious. how original... very original-licious. other designers loathe on Blayne. Stella's like: I'm annoyed-licious. silent fashion assasin Leanne's like: -licious this... -licious that... enough already... I'm gonna barf... barf-licious. Leanne... hear me... I am in communication w/ you... bring out the killer in you Leanne... kill Blayne... kill that wanna be urban black girl.

Keith wants to make his muse happy. he's like: my drag queen Sherri Vine likes bling... I'm gonna make her a fringe dress. huh? purrty Kenley goes off about Keith: Keith... hmmm... what can I say?... he's makin' swatches again... nuthin' drag about his garment... there's no color... there's no sequins... there's no flair... same 'ole swatches. she's purrty when she's catty.

Tim sends in the models for fitting. Acid Betty looks like a regular dude. he and Terri talk about a possible wardrobe malfunction. they also talk about Pac-10 football and Pac-10 volleyball. Joe's model looks like a hardcore marine and reminds me of Howie Long. his muse makes a suggestion about the garment's collar where it would make her look more like a sailor rather than Elvis. they then talk about the upcoming NFL season.

Hedda Lettuce = female body part that she doesn't biologically have. Lettuce goes off on (she thinks she's interesting) Suede: hmmm... I'm feelin' barnacle-y... wait... I'm feelin' like Godzilla... hmmm... are you lazy Suede?... why don't I have any sleeves. Terri's like: oh no she di'int. luv it when Terri's like: oh no she di'int. love Lettuce. she broke Suede down. Suede lost her swagger. poor Suede... she doesn't refer herself in 3rd person anymore. Suede = ordinary white girl w/ blue hair.

Chris March & Tim walk around the room to check on the designers. Chris likes Korto's garment. he tells her: hey... maybe you can do something w/ the skirt where Sweetie can rip it off to show off her legs. Suede boo hoos a swan song: boo hoo hoo... Hedda Lettuce wuz so mean to me... boo hoo hoo... she didn't like my gloves... boo hoo hoo... I worked so hard on her outift... boo hoo hoo... she called me lazy... boo hoo hoo... I have no confidence and so that's why I'm not talking in 3rd person anymore... boo hoo hoo. Keith looks excited meeting Chris. Chris doesn't seem to be impressed w/ Keith's boring outfit.

on the day of the runway show Suede wants to talk w/ her muse. she's like: I took your suggestions into consideration... blah blah blah blah blah. Hedda Lettuce responds: girl... do you think at this stage... do you think at this stage, can we just let it go? damn you Hedda Lettuce! you're not gonna win a modeling contract... you should've acted like a female body part you don't biologically have.

drags walk the runway. purrty Kenley's like: I love my garment... looks like liquid silver. Joe's model showed off her glutes in her skin-tight pink sailor outfit. Hedda Lettuce worked the runway. Suede looks pleased. damn you Hedda Lettuce! Terri's model... Acid Betty... she reminded me of Tyra Banks walkin' all fierce. Acid Betty should replace Miss J on Top Model. I liked Joe's outfit the best. oh... pic from Bravotv.com site.

judges love outfits from Terri, Joe and Korto. Terri's outfit = wild. Michael wants the boots. hmmm... for what reason? RuPaul = funny. she's like: Joe... I love the way this outfit hides her candy. Joe's muse shows off her ASSets. Varla Jean Merman cracks me up... he's a big guy yet she acts like a petite demure girl. Micheal looks way too happy and giggly. one of the judges commented that Korto gave her muse an outfit that made Sweetie's body look like Heidi's.

gentleman Joe won the drag queen challenge. what? no queen won this challenge? Daniel goes home. I had high expectations from Daniel based on the 1st challenge... but what happened? oh well. I don't understand the alligator tears from Keith. Keith must be crying happy tears cuz he gets to stay another week.

after completing my Spartakiad challenges, I only wanted to chillax and sit in the water this afternoon. then I spotted the Cylon triathletes returning from their long swim. Cylon instead of jellyfish invasion today. Cylons look amazing in the water. I should call them cyclones. I loathe them... but they inspired me to do something active rather than chillax.

I thought about a 2nd Spartakiad and decided on 3 new challenges to be completed in 45 solar days... ending 10.08.08.
  1. 15 minutes freestyle
  2. 15 lbs weight gain
  3. 1500 push ups

brief history. at the Olympic games I loved the GDR. all its athletes wore blue outfits and had blue sports equipment. oh... and of course, GDR athletes won lots of medals. GDR called its national Olympics... Spartakiad.

for my 1st Spartakiad a friend of mine suggested to go 800 miles via exercise (walk, bike, run, swim, elliptical, etc) during the Beijing Olympics. from the opening to the closing ceremony I counted 17 calendar days. way too ambitious. I would have to go at least 47 miles each solar day. again... way too ambitious. she then suggested 150 miles... totally doable. I did, however, want to complete 800 miles. from the day she suggested the challenges to the closing ceremony, I counted 45 calendar days. and so my 2nd Spartakiad will last 45 solar days.

the numbers 1 and 5 sound nice and so I used them to determine my 2nd Spartakiad goals. I decided on a 15 minutes freestyle challenge... well, because it's something I haven't done before.

I also have a Coke problem. my Battle of the Bulge... my perpetual war. I like my little Coke pudge (not gut... a pudge)... but I do look like a flat chested girl. I want to look like a prepubescent Sean Scott. I should be able to gain 15 lbs because I should be doing less cardio at the gym since I kinda got my Coke habit under control. if not, then w/ the 1500 push ups I plan to do, it will give the illusion that I do not have a Coke pudge because I would have a bigger chest.

I decided to call my Second Spartakiad... SS. it has a German reference since the GDR dominated swimming... and it also stands for (prepubescent) Sean Scott.

USA Medal Count - 36 Gold, 110 Total

current song: Glamorous by Fergie on Power 104.3 FM

team USA won the most medals... but placed 2nd in the number of golds. that got me thinkin'. what's more important... golds or total medals? if a country only won 1 gold medal as opposed to another w/ 0 golds but 10 silvers and 100 bronzes... which country ranks higher in the medal count? which country did better?

China won 51 gold medals... most of any country. impressive... but I am not impressed. a lot of its golds came from subjective sports... like diving and gymnastics. I know all athletes, in all disciplines, train hard. personally, though, I don't understand the (biased) scoring system in those subjective sports. I immediately think of gymnast Nastia Liukin. she and a Chinese gymnast had identical scores in the individual uneven bars... but after the tiebreaker, Nastia won silver instead of gold. suppose Nastia lost by .01 points. how can this be measured? uber-swimmer Phelps won the 100m butterfly by .01 seconds. time can be measured. distance can be measured. how can feelings be measured?

I remember the Soviets dominated gymnastics... helping them win the most golds and total medals. please. the (biased) judges from Warsaw Pact countries would automatically give the Soviets (their masters) higher scores than say a gymnast from East Germany.

speaking of the USSR and the GDR, the United States fared well when those countries existed. very consistent in the medal count. what about China? the absence of eastern bloc countries helped China place well in the 1984 LA Olympics medal count w/ 15 gold and 32 total medals. but what happened at the 1988 Seoul Olympics when the eastern bloc sports machines participated? America consistent as usual... but China could not compete. it won less gold (5) and less total (28) medals. the GDR even won more gold (37) than China's total medals.

China models itself after the GDR... but it hasn't impressed me like the GDR. in its 3rd Olympic games, the GDR won more golds (40) than the US (34) at the 1976 Montreal Olympics. w/ no eastern bloc I assume China would fill the void immediately. in its 7th Olympics China finally won more golds than the US. but like I wrote... most of its golds won in subjective sports. when China starts winning medals in sports the GDR used to dominate, then I will be impressed.

congratulations to team USA for winning the most medals! USA! USA! USA!

Beijing Olympics - Closing Ceremony

current song: Damaged by Danity Kane on Da Bomb 102.7 FM

closing ceremony so so as compared to the shock & awe of the opening ceremony. couple of local gold medalists in the crowd. decathlete Bryan Clay and soccer player Natasha Kai. a few weeks ago I saw Bryan Clay working out at 24 Hour Fitness in downtown. he seems like a normal guy. as for Kai... hmmm... the only way I would describe her... 'she so da kine'. I personally don't know her... but she looks like a fun person to hang out w/.

a friend told me that the Beijing Olympic medals have jade on the back. love the Chinese for adding their unique bling. speaking of medals... marathon medal ceremony. an athlete from Kenya won the gold medal. Kenya = former British colony. I thought of the jailed British woman protester. she's back in the UK. now... is she protesting against the UK government to free Northern Ireland? is she protesting the UK government to grant independence for all its colonies? if not, then she deserved to be jailed. what a hypocrite. disappointed in my countrymen for protesting as well. I will not be hatin' on my fellow Americans. but how dare you China... how dare you jail Americans... Americans who buy goods made in China... Americans who support your economy.

spotted Alexander Popov. although he swam for Russia... I always thought of him as a Soviet swimmer. the Soviets couldn't compete against the GDR women swimmers (who could?). I remember him as the prototype for future Soviet male swimmers who would eventually challenge the American men. no USSR... no Soviet sports machine.

Olympic flag passed from Beijing to London... from a country on the rise to a country in decline. my thoughts go back to European history... w/ its nation states and its vast empires... conquering the world. now look at Europe. sad. nowadays all talk and no action.

UK presentation so so. quite a diversity in its performers... including a handicapped person in a wheelchair. a contrast to all the uniform Han Chinese performers. double-decker bus comes in... it opens up... Leona Lewis stands on a platform that raises a hundred feet in the air... Jimmy Page rocks it... David Beckam kicks a soccer ball. like I wrote... so so. I wonder if another booming Chinese city will host the Olympics.

pics appear on the membrane showing images of the past 2 weeks of competition. flame extinguished. memory tower appears in center field. pretty cool. Chinese mass unity in motion. massive fireworks explode over the stadium and all over the city.

Chinese get their groove on and start acting like westerners. Bob Costas' like: let the partay begin. pop stars sing. Chinese celebs on stage. spotted Jackie Chan. he sang a few lines. Placido Domingo and a Chinese singer end festivities w/ a duet.

confused w/ the Chinese. they seem free... yet not free. too bad I have a limited vocabulary. anyway, I read somewhere that 86% of the Chinese approve of their government. I assume that those who approve would be the Han, which I equate to be the whites of China. w/ 1.3 billion people this would mean over a billion Chinese approve of its government. if they're happy w/ how their communist government runs their country, let them be.

Battle Of The Bulge: Cardio 1 - Coke 0

current song: Dammit by Blink 182 on Star 101.9 FM

Battle of the Bulge
I have defeated my Coke habit (for now). what will I do to celebrate my victory? I will have a drank of my delicious nemesis. cheers to me. I will cap the cardio goal at 223 calories I need to burn off to reward myself w/ 1 can of Coke. I will try to have only 1 drank on prime number solar days and on the weekends. if my Coke problem gets outta control... damn you McDonald's for that $1 drank promotion... I will increase the cardio target another 10% in September to 245 calories. I will see how I do for the rest of this month.

I really have to maintain the Cardio lead. I looked at my calendar... and I must have done around 60 cardio exercises... bike, elliptical, swimming... since the beginning of the month. throwin' out numbers here... but if I burn about 10 calories/minute... I spent about 22.5 hours on the damn cardio machines. hmmm... if the Coke problem does get outta control and I increase my cardio target to 245 calories next month then that would mean another couple minutes on the cardio machines to reward myself w/ a drank. frell that.

Spartakiad
302.13 miles completed during the Beijing Olympics. 101.42% over my initial 150 miles goal. basically I did this challenge twice over 17 solar days.

848.92 miles completed since I started my 800 miles challenge on 07.11.08. 6.11% over my goal.

1,542.08 miles to reach the Babe Estate in San Francisco, by 07.11.09.

very proud of my Spartakiad challenges. I completed them all. my Battle of the Bulge will be ongoing. since I have a cardio surplus now I can start working out on my abs. I have to finalize my plans for the next Spartakiad challenge, which begins tomorrow.

Beach Volleyball Gold - Dalhausser/Rogers USA

current song: Shake It by Metro Station on Star 101.9 FM

Phil Dalhausser & Todd Rogers won the gold medal against a team w/ serious shoulders from Brazil. in the 1st set I believe the Americans trailed... at one point... 6-1. they settled down... got their game on... and won the 1st set 23-21. 2nd set... what happened? 3rd set the Thin/Beijing Beast took control. Dalhausser = blocking machine. they decimated the Brazilians 15-4 in the final set and won gold. totally awesome.

Spartakiad - 254.36 / 801.15 Miles

current song: Lolli Lolli by Three 6 Mafia on Hot 93.9 FM

254.36 miles (so far) during the Beijing Olympics. currently 69.57% over my initial 150 miles goal.

800 miles Spartakiad challenge complete. 801.15 miles (so far) since 07.11.08. currently 0.14% over my goal. I actually completed this challenge in 41 solar days... an average of 19.54 miles per solar day.

final entry about the GDR sports machine. its athletes last appeared in the 1988 Seoul Olympics... 20 cycles ago. the 409 medals it won in its 5 summer games appearances still rank in the top 10 medals of all time. I remember a sea of GDR blue. GDR rowers won medal after medal. I remember serious shoulders gymnast Andreas Wecker. also remember some GDR track & field athletes. Heike Dreschler... the GDR female Carl Lewis... trying to win 4 golds in the 100m, 200m, 4 x 100m relay, and long jump. Torsten Voss in the decathlon. throwers Ulf Timmerman in the shot put... Petra Felke in the javelin. and of course I remember the GDR swimmers winning a lot of medals. 1st and only memory of a GDR male swimmer... Uwe Dassler... winning Olympic gold. GDR swimming machine culminated in Kristin Otto winning 6 gold medals. the GDR kicked ass.

1,589.85 miles to reach the Babe Estate in San Francisco, by 07.11.09. under 1,600 miles to go.

Beach Volleyball Gold: May-Treanor/Walsh USA

current song: Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin' by Journey on KPOI 105.9 FM

at the gym I watched Misty & Kerri win gold. they swept a Chinese team in 2 close sets 21-18, 21-18. 1st beach vball team to repeat as Olympic champions. as in Athens, they swept all their opponents. so far this cycle, Misty & Kerri have won all their tournaments. Kerri has now won 100 titles. awesome her 100th = gold.

also watched the medal ceremony. rain = good luck, good fortune... especially for the Americans. frell even for the Chinese. they won the silver and bronze medals. I know Chinese gold medalists will earn currency bonuses. I assume the silver and bronze medalists will get currency as well.

hopefully the American men will win beach vball gold too.

my aquatic Spartakiad 15 minutes freestyle challenge? too ambitious. I decided to start this on 08.25.08 along w/ my SS challenge. I have to think of a name for it. perhaps GDR challenge... cuz the GDR did dominate swimming for cycles. doesn't sound catchy as SS though. still gotta think of a name.

current song: Fergalicious by Fergie on Power 104.3 FM

watched 2 matches. Dalhausser & Rogers won 21-13, 25-23 in their match against a German team. Thin/Beijing Beast = blocking machine in the 2nd set. team won the match w/ Dalhausser block. awesome. they move into the semifinals.

Misty & Kerri won 21-12, 21-14 in their match against a Brazilian team. they decimated their opponents. Happy (belated) Birthday Kerri!

shitty solar day today. Kerri = 6 feet of sunshine. frell... all the vball players = positive bunch. I would not be worthy to be in their presence. watching them play put a smile on my face. I can go to bed on a positive note.

so close to bringing down the Coke lead to a single digit. I have 7 solar days for a cardio surplus. very close to victory. prime number solar day and so I had a drank. tomorrow I begin my aquatic Spartakiad 15 minutes freestyle challenge. I've been thinking about another Spartakiad challenge to start after the Games. once I achieve victory in the Battle of the Bulge, I know I will have gotten rid of my Coke gut. I will be able to go shirtless on all the beaches in every state of the country. problem though... I will look like a flat chested girl.

it just so happened that my 800 miles spanned 45 solar days. nice number. from 08.25.08 to 10.08.08 I will attempt to bulk up 15 lbs. that way I can look like a prepubescent Sean Scott or prepubescent Matt Biondi. I will call this my SS challenge.

Olympics - Swimming

current song: Closer by Ne-Yo on Da Bomb 102.7 FM

Michael Phelps won his 8th gold medal at these games. the US men's 4 x 100m medley relay won in world record time. Phelps received a $1 million bonus the other solar day when he matched Mark Spitz's 7 gold medals. I will win the Mega Millions.

women's 50m freestyle... Dara Torres wins silver. would have been awesome if she won. instead, Britta Steffen auf Deutschland won gold. still remember how cycles ago the GDR dominated women's swimming. at this point the GDR would have been at the top of the overall medal count. Germany only won 2 swimming medals... both golds from Steffen.

women's 4 x 100m medley relay... US won silver. Australia won lots of medals in the pool. it's population roughly that of the former GDR. GDR athletes improved their performance by taking blue vitamins. do the Aussies take yellow vitamins to enhance their performance as well?

Project Runway 5 - Brooke Shields

current song: Always On My Mind by DaVille on Island 98.5 FM

ladies and gentleman Joe find out that they will have to design an outfit for Brooke Shields' Lipstick Jungle character. I don't watch that show... I thought it got cancelled. she will wear the winning design in some ep in its 2nd season. I wondered if NBC owns Bravo and it wants to help increase Lipstick Jungle's ratings.

contestants find out that they will be working in teams of 2. they look disgusted. they each get to sketch for 30 minutes and Brooke will choose 6 team leaders after she meets w/ all of them individually. Kelli mentions leopard print. love the big cats. Daniel, speaking to the camera, goes off. he's like: I come from a middle eastern background... I'm Moroccan and Israeli... I know what women want. whatever. I honestly thought he would kick ass judging from his blue plastic cup outfit from the 1st challenge... he's only stood out in a negative way... he's consistent being in the bottom.

so they each meet w/ Brooke. Keith compliments Brooke's legs. kiss ass points for him. she picks the team leaders. Terri chosen as 1 cuz Brooke likes the idea of a pants outfit. (she thinks she's interesting) Blayne's also chosen as a team leader. Brooke likes his Bermuda shorts idea. hopefully Blayne gets kicked off. Bermuda shorts worn at work? c'mon. Brooke chooses the 6 team leaders and they choose their partner. each team leader chose a partner of the opposite genitalia.

Terri chose to work w/ (she thinks she's interesting) Suede. while working Suede freaks out. Terri's like: I don't know what she has down there... does she have balls or a va-jay-jay?... whatever she has packin', she has to work it out... no babies will be suckin' on my tits... man it up girl. love Terri.

Tim brings in the models for an early fitting. I think of a pumpkin lookin' at Korto's outfit. her model's excited. Korto's partner Joe's like: I love the sleeves. huh? later when Tim checks on the progress, gentleman Joe's not so gentlemanly. he's like: I don't like the sleeves. Joe = mole. when Tim visits each team, I find all the outfits to be blah... nothing looks amazing or stands out.

on the day of the runway show, Blayne's like: I'm so confident my outfit will be worn on the show. whatever. to the camera, purrty Kenley's like: Daniel cracks me up... he claims to have very elegant and sophisticated taste... I haven't seen it yet. Terri tries on her design. she's like: ooooo... I luv it... I'm lookin' good... I wanna keep this fo myself. she starts to mop the floor w/ her bootay. love Terri.

as each model walks the runway... not impressed w/ any of the designs. no favorite this week. Brooke smiles at Jerell when her design comes out. I think she may win. it does look relatively decent compared to all the other designs.

at judging, Nina's harsh to Kelli & Daniel. she's like: you cannot get taste if you don't have it. Nina = full of herself. I keep thinking editor in exile rather than editor at large. Heidi asks: who should go home Kelli... you or Daniel? Kelli's like: Daniel of course... I won the 1st challenge and I've been consistent. Daniel's like: I should stay... I have impeccable taste. purrty Kenley starts to crack up. she's cute. at this point though I think Daniel will stay because the show needs some bitch fights... upcoming eps will feature cat fights between the 2 ladies.

Keith wins. if I had to choose between the top 2 designs it would have been Jerell's. the judges think Keith's design looks the most sophisticated. huh? I think of a woolly mammoth lookin' at the skirt. team leaders Kelli and Blayne bottom 2. how can Blayne's Bermuda shorts look more sophisticated than Kelli's dress? oh... it must be because the producers think Blayne's interesting and so Kelli's eliminated.

Spartakiad - 157.83 / 704.62 Miles

current song: With You by Chris Brown on Da Bomb 102.7 FM

Spartakiad
initial challenge of traveling 150 miles during the Games completed in 8 solar days. far ahead of schedule. 157.83 miles (so far)... an average of 19.73 miles each solar day. I kicked ass.

95.38 miles to complete my 800 miles by the end of the Beijing Olympics on 08.24.08. I've (mostly) biked, walked, ellipticalled, and swam over 700 miles since I started this challenge on 07.11.08.

2nd to the last entry about the awesome GDR. at the 1988 winter Olympics in Calgary, the GDR competed in its last winter games. in the medal count the GDR peaked at 25 total medals. I remember GDR athletes again dominated the bobsled, luge, and speed skating events. 1st memory of the biathlon. GDR women again swept the luge medals w/ their blue luges. 1st time witnessing a GDR male speed skater... Jens-Uwe Mey (actually Uwe-Jens Mey when I looked him up)... win gold. remember other powerful GDR speed skaters w/ their huge quads winning medal after medal... each leg still bigger than the size of my entire body. and of course hottie Katarina Witt. I remember she actually wore a blue outfit.

it has been 20 cycles since the GDR last competed at a winter games... and I think the total winter medals it won still ranks in the top 10 all time... and the GDR competed only in 6 winter Olympics. who knows what kinds of blue colored vitamin pills the GDR scientists would have developed to help its male athletes? I can only assume its medal haul would have still increased steadily. and who knows how many more medals the GDR would have won in the many events added since it last competed? the GDR kicked ass.

1,686.38 miles to reach the Babe Estate in San Francisco, by 07.11.09. under 1,700 miles to go.

Battle of the Bulge: Coke 15 - Cardio 0
excited w/ the possibility of a cardio victory. I can now focus my cardio exercises on the elliptical machines. I can burn off at least 223 calories in less time than a bike program to earn a drank of my nemesis. Aquatic
I noticed the moon tonight. full moon tomorrow, which means jellyfish invasion as early as the 24th.. the last day of the Olympics. I devised a plan to complete my 15 minutes freestyle Spartakiad challenge. since parking at Ala Moana beach will be a bitch this weekend cuz of the Honolulu Family Festival, my freestyle challenge will begin on Monday. I will attempt to swim 3 minutes that day... increase the time by 3 minutes each following day... so that by Friday I will be able to do 15 minutes. this is the most difficult of all the challenges.

women's 200m backstroke... Margaret Hoelzer won silver.

men's 100m butterfly... Michael Phelps won... 7 gold medals (so far). mama Phelps = kinda hottie. race starts... at the 50m turn uber-lean Phelps not 1st. looks like other swimmers ahead of him too. furious final 50m. guy who led after the turn stopped taking breaths for the last several strokes... but Phelps touched the wall 0.01 seconds faster than the other dude. awesome. replay after replay... above the pool and underwater... of Phelps touching 1st. the last 1/2 stroke made him the winner. awesome. bug eyed... didn't blink... during the final seconds and during the endless replays.

women's 800m freestyle... no American medal... but positive Janet Evans spotted in the crowd.

men's 50m freestyle... no American medal... but awesome powerful swims. swimmers don't take breaths... not even 1 breath... cuz they may lose valuable time. powerful strokes and leg kicks generate waves in the pool. awesome.

Olympics - Beach Volleyball

current song: Boys of Summer by Don Henley on KSSK 92.3 FM

single released in 1984. awesome UK #1 single 24 cycles ago... Two Tribes by Frankie Goes To Hollywood.

watched match between American team Dalhausser/Rogers vs Swiss team. Dalhausser born in Switzerland. nicknamed the Thin Beast... but during the Games he wants to be called the Beijing Beast... Bei Be in Mandarin. puzzled w/ the Chinese communists/capitalists... still surprising to me to see all these Chinese hotties in bikinis dancing around during the matches. I find it scandalous. then again... who knows?... perhaps some Chinese company wants to dominate the bikini market and so the government allows the hotties to them show off.

1st set... 1st point goes to the US w/ Beijing Beast smashing an overpass ball. I realized at this point that the team looks different cuz they're actually wearing shirts compared to playing shirtless on the AVP tour. Rogers = digging machine. awesome. who selects the music played? US team wins the 1st set 21-16.

announcers start talkin' about the Luciga bros from Switzerland. apparently they won over $1 million. damn. announcers also talk about how the Chinese maintain the sand. stud uber-announcer Chris Marlowe calls the machine the sandboni. 1st time this machine used. I wondered if it's a Chinese designed and made machine. it filters, rotates, and levels the sand. awesome. anyway... somehow the Swiss team managed to earn 2 set points. Swiss team won the set w/ an ace serve in overtime.

3rd set... after 1 of the many commercial breaks... Swiss team ahead 6-0. what the frell? Beijing Beast = blocking machine. w/ one of his many blocks, score tied at 7-7. Swiss player who got blocked blamed his partner for his mistake when he actually could have done something else like tip the ball. announcer mentions that the Europeans always blame their partners for their own mistakes. I'm hatin' on the Europeans at this point. they go on and on and on about other countries when they fail to look at themselves. w/ the Russia-Georgia conflict what do the Europeans do? absolutely nuthin'. they're like: oh great Superpower United States, please help us... please get involved and talk to the Russians... we need the oil. what irked me more? NBC decides to show a swimming final towards the end of the 3rd set. US team won 15-13.

I can then focus on my Battle of the Bulge. it takes several more minutes on the bike to burn off at least 223 calories to earn a drank of Coke than if I went on an elliptical machine. for the same amount of time I spend at the gym doing 3 bike programs during cardio blitzkriegen solar days, I can do 4 elliptical exercises instead.

at the moment, only worried about my Spartakiad aquatic challenge. failed to go to the beach today to complete my 30 minutes breaststroke. friend Sheila wants to go to the beach tomorrow and so I will attempt to complete this initial aquatic challenge on Friday. then I can turn my attention to the more challenging 15 minutes freestyle.

Olympics - Swimming

current song: American Boy by Estelle on Da Bomb 102.7 FM

uber-swimmer Michael Phelps won the 200m freestyle in world record time for his 3rd gold. Americans won lots of medals in the pool today. awesome.

at the beach today while swimming I remembered why I loved the GDR and its dominance in sports. an OOOOOHHHHH moment. but I won't write about that. the GDR last competed at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. the GDR only competed in 5 summer games... and it still ranks in the top 10 in the all time medals count. the East Germans kicked ass. still weird not seeing any GDR athletes in the finals... or at the top of the medal count.

Aaron Peirsol won the gold in the 100m backstroke. Pac-10 hottie Natalie Coughlin also won gold in the 100m backstroke. USA! USA! USA!

1st solar day at the beach this week. awesome. hot sun ablazin'... cool water refreshin'. seriously refreshing. I have to write it again... seriously refreshing. obsessed w/ the Cylon triathletes. spotted chubby Gaeta in the parking lot w/ a centurion. when I finished my swim... Cylons starting theirs. OMA in his Speedo (would have made friend Sheila's afternoon)... yellow stripe shirt Asian dude... hottie Sharon... new centurions. the centurions looked out of shape (as if I look like a pre-pubescent Matt Biondi). back in the parking lot spotted Zipp's Z... lean white dude. also spotted friend Cylon Andrew. he's lean too. if I stood next to the last 2 Cylons I would look like friend Ann 9 months pregnant.

I planned to exercise later on this evening to get some serious gymnast shoulders and arms. what's my excuse? I had a major sugar crash and passed out. lots of sweets today... brownies w/ cream cheese... Maui Caramacs... Hershey's Kisses... Peanut Butter Oreos. totally worth every bite. while watching all these fit people competing in the Olympics I pigged out on pizza. seriously pigged out. I tried to lay off the Coke... but the dranks complemented the pizza very well.

prime number solar day today and so I could have a drank of my nemesis. as I wrote earlier I pigged out on pizza and the drank went well w/ the many slices I ate. I normally have a drank before I go to bed and I'm disappointed w/ myself for having 2 dranks instead of the allotted 1. I have 13 solar days remaining for a cardio victory.

powered through 600 miles. another breakthrough... another entry about a GDR Olympic achievement. the East Germans and Soviets battled each other at the winter games... but at the 1984 winter Olympics in Sarajevo, the GDR won the most gold medals for the 1st time ever in the medal count. GDR athletes continued to dominate the bobsled, luge, and speed skating events... winning medal after medal. I remember Wolfgang Hoppe winning golds in sleek GDR blue bodsleds... I remember the GDR women sweeping the luge medals... I remember powerful GDR speed skaters in blue outfits w/ quads bigger than my body... I also remember GDR hottie Katarina Witt, not only cuz she won gold in figure skating... but that she didn't wear any GDR blue. been watching swimming as usual. after all these cycles I still miss seeing the GDR dominate. brilliant thing about the GDR and their blue vitamin pills... which helped enhance its athletes' performances... they never got caught... always several goose-steps ahead.

last week Sunday, score... Coke 23 - Cardio 0. I earned 5 dranks during the week. at this rate it will be difficult for me to complete this Spartakiad challenge. I love my nemesis Coke... I need to do cardio to earn my dranks... I want to start weight training again... but I don't wanna spend much time at the gym. I seriously have to have 1 drank on prime number solar days and on the weekends to be victorious.

current song: Dangerous by Kardinal Offishall on Hot 93.9 FM

Michael Phelps won his 2nd gold medal of the games as part of the world record 4 x 100 m freestyle relay team. stud swimmer Jason Lezak swam like a madman for the win. awesome. loathe the French... they make like they're a superpower when they're not. why is French still spoken at the Games? gimme a break. surprised the Nazis didn't do away w/ that tradition. most likely the French will ask the US to get involved w/ resolving the Russia-Georgia conflict cuz the country needs oil. hello? that's why the US is in Iraq. what a bunch of hypocrites. ok... enough hating on the French. USA! USA! USA!

Samantha Brown - Passport to (Beijing) China

current song: Bleeding Love by Leona Lewis on Da Bomb 102.7 FM

Samantha Brown positive as usual. she's in Beijing and plans to visit the Forbidden City and the Great Wall of China. love the Chinese... getting in touch w/ my ginseng roots.

she 1st explores an ancient neighborhood and its hutongs on the outskirts of the city. she and her guide take a tour of the area in a rickshaw. some of the establishments have housed the same families for 700 cycles. behind the alley walls... spacious courtyards. she visits a woman whose family has lived at the place for 100 cycles. the lady's establishment applies feng shui principles. I'm thinkin: damn this seki is lucky... she should keep her property cuz land values should only continue to go up in the capital. then I'm thinkin': it's communist China... the strict parental government can do as it pleases. I wonder if the woman still has her establishment or if a building or facility took its place for the Olympics. Samantha Brown, please follow up on this woman.

Samantha's like: Beijing's a massive city... it's as huge as the country of Belgium. I'm like: damn... the city even has more people than Belgium. she's off to Tiananmen Square. she's like: it's the largest public square in the world... it's the size of 90 football fields... I can't even see the other end. she's off to the Forbidden City. she's like: it's the largest palace in the world... the complex sprawls over 250 acres. she asks her guide friend: what would happen to commoners in ancient times? guide friend's like: we would have been killed... that's why it's called Forbidden. 200,000 people took 14 cycles to work on the palace. 20 emperors lived there until the early 1900s.

a lot of dragons on walls. Chinese culture loves dragons as opposed to the West. I'm thinkin: alien species. reptile-like species planted the seeds of Chinese civilization thousands of cycles ago... hmmm... another entry for another time. back to Samantha. she's like: can' you believe this entire complex was almost destroyed during the Cultural Revolution?

Sam then shows of where she's staying at, the Ascott Beijing... a luxury residence, which has all the services of a hotel... but it's not a hotel. her 1 room is huge. she's like: this is a standard room... can you believe this?... I'm like at a luxury hotel for half the price... check out my microwave and its funky settings... rice, fish, noodles... I'm in China baby. she's so positive. love her.

she goes out to eat w/ some friends. neon lights all over the place. she's like: I'm gonna eat Peking duck... only the emperor used to eat this. her Chinese friends, who look amazingly Western, want her to try duck tongue and duck liver. while they wait she gets a tour of the kitchen. duck cooked as in ancient times. no electronics gadgets or timers... the cook knows its done by its color and weight. duck served. looks damn good. sliced into 120 pieces. sliced as opposed to butchered like in Chinatown. the meat looks so good. I will go to Chi-town and buy duck and char siu tomorrow. Sam makes duck taco... more like burrito w/ all the fillings she put in.

she visits an acrobatics school. she sees performers doing all sorts of stuff backstage... one's spinning a couple dozen plates... others diving through hoops... one does a 1 hand handstand and does all these funky poses for half an hour. Sam sees a performer on a unicycle. she's like: I can do that. they call her out. she can't. she's like: damn... she made it look so easy I thought I could do it... I should just watch the show.

she visits the emperor's Summer Palace... his vacation home. largest imperial gardens in the world. largest this largest that in China. I read that the Olympic Green is twice as big as NYC's Central Park. Summer Palace looks awesome. I wondered how the ancient Chinese could build all this awesomeness and yet modern China builds crap for export? huge man made lake... w/ huge boat. money that could have been used to modernize China's navy went to making this boat. empress at the time said boat will project power. Samantha's like: girl... oh no you di'int... you were wrong.

Samantha finally gets to the Great Wall. she's surprised to see all these souvenir vendors. she's like: the Great Wall is one of the 7 wonders of the world... it's 4,000 miles long... longer than the United States... the 1st part of the Wall that opened is closest to Beijing... that's why it's the most touristy... let's take a ride on the cable cars.

so she's walkin' on the wall. she's like: where's everyone going?... we're already on the wall... is there a football game or sumthin'? crowds begin to thin out. she continues walking. she stops to power up w/ her sandwich and drank she packed for lunch. she's like: oh my gawd... the views keep getting more and more spectacular... can you believe Genghis Khan ran into this when he tried to invade the country? she's so positive.

Olympics - Beach Volleyball

current song: Say It Right by Nelly Furtado on Da Bomb 102.7 FM

watched 2 matches today. in the 1st match Nicole Branagh and EY swept a team from the Netherlands. the Americans had trouble winning the 2nd set w/ their service errors. they won that set in overtime.

in the 2nd match I watched vball studs Misty and Kerri dominate a team from Japan. politics aside, I love the President just cuz he peppered w/ them. love everyone who plays vball... or makes an effort to play that sport. stud announcer Chris Marlowe's like: hey look at him go. he also talks about Kerri Walsh's reach, which is greater than that of Karch Kiraly. Marlowe's like: she'd dominate you.

the Thin Beast and Todd Rogers lost their opening match. surprised. it's the 2nd match in a row they've lost after they winning 30+ in a row.

Olympics - Women's Volleyball: USA 3 - Japan 1

current song: All Summer Long by Kid Rock on Star 101.9 FM

1st women's indoor vball match I watched since the NCAA women's vball finals. a lot of former Wahine and Pac-10 vball players on the team. familiar faces like Robyn Ah Mow-Santos, Heather Bown, Kim Willoughby, Kim Glass, Ogonna Nnamani and hottie Logan Tom.

team USA won its match in 4 sets against Japan. pleased the Americans won. since it's the Olympics I thought the pace of the game would be faster and the spikes more explosive... not so. Pac-10 vball far more exciting.

Beijing Olympics - Opening Ceremony

current song: Fergalicious by Fergie on Power 104.3 FM

the opening ceremony kicked ass. hmmm... I'll try to be descriptive as possible in the time allotted to write this entry. then again, if you're reading this... 1) remember to click on the ads by Google so that I can take a trip to China... 2) you missed out on an awesome spectacle of power.

overhead shot of the Bird Nest Stadium lit in GDR blue. speaking of Germany... I thought of Nazi Germany during the opening ceremony... a lot of red, white and black. 2008 drummers dressed in white filled the stadium floor. w/ camera angles, drummers as far as the eye could see. stadium lights turn off... certain drums turn on in bright white lighting, forming shapes of Chinese number symbols and Arabic numerals. it's a countdown... 60 - 50 - 40 - 30 - 20 - 10 - 9 - ... - 0. massive fireworks explode. crowd cheers. drummers perform their routine. stadium lights go off again... drum sticks become red glow sticks. I get the chills... red, white, black... Nazi Germany. announcer Bob Costas' like: very intimidating. he must have gotten the chills too.

Olympic rings light up on the stadium floor. it rises into the air. crowd cheers.

56 kids walk into the stadium holding the Chinese flag. the kids represent the 56 different ethnic groups in China. I assume the kids are all Han Chinese dressed up in various ethnic attire. I have revelations... I equate the Han in China to the whites in America... the Han migration into Tibet similar to the whites moving west long ago. anyway... the kids hand the flag to its military. I get bug eyed... red Chinese flag, black uniformed Chinese military, white gloves... and they goose-step towards the flag poles. Nazi Germany. commentator explains: symbolic of the kids handing the flag to the state... the state guarantees the future for the kids. Chinese flag goes up... Chinese national anthem played... everyone sings along... kids pose as if they give the Nazi salute. crowd cheers. massive fireworks.

program will showcase ancient and modern China. huge LED screen lights up on the field. largest LED screen on the planet. Costas' like: the LED measures 230 feet long by 70 feet wide... and it's gonna get bigger as the show progresses. I wondered if China manufactured it w/ one of its own electronics companies or by a foreign company like Samsung.

China invented paper and the printing press. blocks appear on the field and start forming shapes... creating wind... ripples in a pond... the Great Wall of China. red flowers appear on the top of the blocks. at 1st I thought all the movements done mechanically... but the top of the blocks open and all these guys start waving to the crowd. crowd cheers.

hmmm... what else? oh... Chinese naval history shown. a great Chinese naval explorer 1st to use the magnetic compass. the ancient Chinese ships would be like an aircraft carrier compared to Columbus' tug boats. membrane along the top of the stadium starts to show pics of the ocean... it's like we're at sea.

a popular Chinese pianist plays a tune. how Western. performers in green costumes that light up dance around him. lights go off... performer suits glow bright white... they form a dove... those forming the wings move around giving the illusion of flight. they then surround the pianist, pile up on one another, and become a miniature Bird Nest stadium. a kid flies a kite.

2008 Tai Chi masters do their thang. announcer explains Tai Chi deals w/ the movement of energy. membrane along the stadium top shows pics of waterfalls. commentator's like: it's a harmony between man and nature... they've formed a huge circle w/ no markings on the ground... they must be in harmony w/ their surroundings. membrane then shows pics of doves.

huge globe appears on the field. w/ lighting it becomes the Earth. performers walk across the planet. I'm thinking: Chinese goose-stepping all over the planet. 2 singers appear on the top of the planet. male singer a pop star in China. what did he wear? a black t-shirt and black jeans. w/ all the fancy costumes, he wore that?

parade of nations. saw the US athletes. spotted beach v-ball studs Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh. saw the Germans. Costas mentions that the Germans want to stop their medal slide and will try to revive the GDR sports machine. China enters w/ Yao Ming as the flag bearer. crowd cheers. alongside Yao Ming walks Lin Hao, a kid who survived the earthquake and helped rescue 2 of his friends from the rubble. Matt Lauer talks about China's sports goals... project 119. the Chinese want to focus on sports where its athletes can win multiple medals... track & field, rowing, swimming... basically sports the old Soviet and GDR athletes dominated.

Olympic flag carried into the stadium... then handed off to the goose-stepping Chinese military. Olympic torch enters stadium for final relay. again I think of Nazi Germany. propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels 1st came up w/ the idea of an Olympic torch relay from Olympia to Berlin. a legendary Chinese gymnast who won 6 medals at the 1984 LA Olympics has the honor of lighting the flame. he's hoisted into the air... he runs along the membrane at the top of the stadium, which shows pics of the worldwide relay. the cauldron appeared. Costas' like: it wasn't there 30 minutes ago... another engineering feat. flame lit. crowd roars. massive fireworks display.

Matt Lauer's like: this is the 1st time I've been to an opening ceremony... are all of them like this? Costas' like: no... you came to the right one.
